Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Founded in Paris in 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide community of more than 800,000 lay Catholics, known as Vincentians, who join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to neighbors in need. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) is a lay association of men and women volunteers freely gathered together to enhance their personal spiritual growth and development and, as a result of this growing spirituality, to act out their Faith commitment in service to one another and to the other needy of the community as a whole and of the Church. Vincentians (members of the Society) are established in groups known as Conferences, usually, but not always, affiliated with a Roman Catholic parish. The Rapid City Council consists of five conferences:  Lead/Deadwood, Piedmont, Rapid City, Spearfish/Belle Fourche, and Sturgis/Newell.
